Kathy, a founding partner of Burns & Bynum, leads tax planning and preparation as well as the retirement, estate and investment planning specialties of the firm.

Early on, Kathy developed a deep appreciation for the need to closely coordinate a client’s strategic tax and investment planning in a cohesive, comprehensive plan. To that end, she holds a Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Kathy is also an investment advisor representative, holding her Series 7, 63, 65 and 24 securities registrations with LPL Financial. This extensive background enables her to transition seamlessly between individual and business wealth issues and the planning of tax and investment strategies.

Previously, Kathy served as Director of Corporate Tax,

Tax Manager at RSM McGladrey. She is a graduate of East Carolina University and is very involved in various community activities. She is Vice Chair of Member and Business Services for the Cary Chamber of Commerce, Member of Triangle Commercial Real Estate Women and Treasurer of the Morrisville Rotary Club. Kathy is also a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International and a member of the Professional Advisory Group for the Cary Community Foundation. She received the 2002 Small Business Award for Community Service from the Cary Chamber of Commerce and works with many charitable organizations in the Triangle.
